Is the Foundation Cracked?

Would you know if the foundation on your house was cracked? I’ll be the first to admit that I would not. I don’t even know how you are supposed to know. Like, are there things you should look for, do you need to inspect it at certain times, is it obvious if it’s crack? I would need help with all the questions above.
I also think many times we need help to know if the foundation in our marriage has a crack. I am going to submit the same questions; do you know what you are supposed to look for; are you supposed to look; what does a crack in the foundation look like?
I want to offer some questions that you might use to assess your marriage foundation:
1. Do you enjoy your spouse’s companionship and friendship?
2. Do you have some shared interests, common goals?
3. Do you feel safe to communicate freely about wants, or needs?
4. Do you respect your spouse, despite differences in opinions, or disagreement with some decisions?
5. Do you have a genuine interest in your spouse’s individual growth and success?

Dealing with issues early can help prevent a major renovation project to your marriage...

If you answered yes, to these questions that is great! You are keeping a strong foundation and being intentional about your relationship. If you could not answer yes, or the questions gave you pause, then act while the crack may be small. Acknowledging there might be a crack is the wise thing to do. Dealing with issues early can help prevent a major renovation project to your marriage or your house. Don’t delay; don’t think the crack will heal itself. It will not!
Start to shore it up, have some honest discussion about where you are and where you want to be. Decide what you need to do next. Cracks that are dealt with, reinforced, can make your foundation and marriage even stronger and able to withstand the storms ahead.
